The Samsung Galaxy S has proven to be a popular device since its release last year, but now there's a new kid on the block, the Samsung Galaxy S2. This sees a wealth of upgrades over the original Galaxy S, incorporating some of the most advanced smartphone technology available.

In this article, I will give an overview of the upgrades Samsung has made over the original, so you can decide if the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the smartphone for you.

The design of the handsets themselves differs slightly. Whilst the original has a slightly curvier appearance, the Samsung Galaxy S2 somewhat resembles the shape of an iPhone 4. The new version also trumps the original in both width and weight; at just 116 grams and 8.5mm thick. The rest of the dimensions are similar, however the Galaxy S2 is slightly bigger due to the fact it boasts a larger screen of 4.3 inches, which retains the same super AMOLED capacitive technology, and the resolution of 480x 800. Although the resolution is the same, but on a bigger screen, there is no noticeable difference to the display quality, which remains top notch.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 features the latest version of TouchWiz (4.0). This user interface offers a number of improvements over version 3.0 found on the original Galaxy S.
